A customer commissioned a pair of sculptures, a wave and a moon, in 8-inch round metal frames, for each side of her fireplace mantel. She wanted swirls of jewel tone stained glass and various sizes of jewel nuggets. The wave is shown here in natural light to show transparent, translucent, and opaque glass.
This image shows a handcrafted sand dollar in mottled rose Youghiogheny glass as part of my Cape Cod beach suncatchers collection. The collection includes starfish, conch shells, and sand dollars. (The unique glass will show different patterns on front and back).
This stained glass sculpture includes royal blue mottled Youghiogheny glass along with wispy white.clear glass and translucent seafoam glass. The composition integrates a Pierpoint glass cup plate of a swan along with teal, seafoam green, blue, and clear nuggets. Original hand-made tack-fused glass in green, blue and clear with natural. overlapping edges centers the design..
"Transparent, Translucent, Opaque: Layered Meanings." Based on the theme of this Cape Cod Museum of Art exhibit, "works of art often use these visual cues to convey mood, evoke mystery,
and instill meaning. However, this theme can also apply to the human
condition, indicating varied levels of openness, comprehension or
clairvoyance." This 8=inch sculpture in red, white, and blue glasses of different textures captures these layered meanings.
I designed this ocean window to custom fit a unique sized space in a Cape Cod house. In addition to colorful waves of varying textures and transparency, I incorporated sea glass, jewels, rondels, broken glass, other found items and negative spaces to create motion.
